I've spent countless hours with pump, I would say go back to using the
dhcpcd client, not sure if it's on 6.1  but it should be around for
earlier version.

I was down in NYC last week for LinuxWorldExpo, the hotel had "fast"
internet service through a 10-base-T jack in the room, I don't know what
the DHCP server was (which OS etc...) but I spent several hours trying to
use pump and got nowhere. I had dhcpcd up and running in about 2 minutes.
