Actually I think it never went away. The SLUG.ORG was payed for and
moved a year ago by Doug Poulin. He found and used this web hosting
company that put up adds for the use of there hosting service.

My comments were that I didn't like the adds, but I didn't pay for it
so I couldn't complain too much. When it came up for renewal I said I
wouldn't mind paying for the domain but, if I was paying for it, I
did not want it hosted someplace with the adds.

As it turns out we made the decision to not renew the domain but to
use "slug.gnhlug.org" instead. We've let the domain expire as far as
I know. The hosting company is still hosting it and resolving the
domain. I'm betting that we can no longer do anything with the domain
since we let it lapse. My guess is that they have never renewed the
domain, if somebody else grabs it they'll be able to move it from that
location?

I've never been able to get any real information out of the DNS gods.
I always get dead ends where they can't tell you anything.

I would think the best solution would be to have Doug update the page
stating that it's moved and the new address is "slug.gnhlug.org", I
assume Doug still has rights to modify the hosted web page?
