It was mentioned at last Thursday's "org meeting" that we want to have a
really kick-butt presenter for this summer's "big" meeting ("quarterly").
Maddog pledged to get one. We need to back that up with some action of our
own.
Things that need to be worried about:
- Who the speaker is. Obviously, this depends on maddog, but a lot
depends on this, so we need to know as soon as possible. Maddog, any
idea on when we might know?
- Exact date. Trying to work it so that the meeting coincides with Usenix
was mentioned, and I expect the presenter will influce this, but again,
a lot depends on this, so we need to know early.
- Location. Some kind of autotorium or similar setting would be ideal.
But we would need to know the date before we can lock down a place.
- Promotion. We need to really spread the word on this one, so we can
honor Maddog's effort, and the speaker. More on this in a separate
message.
