I have gotten some very positive responses from TechLinik and am moving forward on that front. I am in the process of creating several CD's of FOSS software as well as live CDs of Linux...Knoppix and Morphix which will be available at their access points and for distribution in libraries. Also, I am scheduled to talk to their tech people to explore using Linux for their infrastructure needs as well as on desktops. If this goes well, i will be looking for volunteers to help with setting up systems/networks.
The interest in the educational community has been increasing and there will be a day long program for school tech leaders in May devoted to Linux. I am talking to the leaders and may have more news on this as well including looking for volunteers who might be able to help there as well. These opportunities involve promoting Linux and FOSS to people who have an interest and will expand their use with the right info and appeal. I am getting the impression we are past the tipping point and things are really moving on this front. So it is an excellent time for GNHLUG to play a role and to become known as a source of info and help to those starting or expanding their use of Linux.
