I used to use Mindspring and connect to it from a Linux system. If I
remember correctly, they use PAP authentication. There are a few "easy"
ways to do it if you are using either Gnome or KDE for your window manager
(which I doubt). They both have PPP dialer GUI's that set up the secrets
file for you. When I was doing it, I used the "10 minute guide to PPP" from
the Apr. 97 issue of LJ and set it up almost exactly the same way. The

substituted the phone numbers, etc.
