You can get free x servers for windows, but while they are functional,
they're not that great.
Another alternative might be to use a serial connection to the PCs, and
run something like seyon or (I can't believe I'd even mention it)
hyperterminal to connect to them, or even get a small cheap terminal-
server-type thingy. You can configure lilo and the kernel to use a tty as
the console.
Yet another alternative is to install VNC on the windows box and install
the VNC client on a linux box, and connect the linux box to the monitor.
The performance isn't bad at all over a lan, esp a 100Mb lan, but it's
definitely not good enough to play action games that way... : )
As far as it not being what you want to do goes, I can't help you there. I
personally find the extra monitor(s) and/or a/b switches to be a waste,
but everyone has different needs... So I guess my comments are aimed more
at others who might want to do something similar but would rather not buy
new hardware to achieve it...
