Price for VA's a bit high, but the quality of systems is good. They come
preloaded with Linux (of course), so there's no problem getting all the hardware
working.

Of course, I rarely have any significant problems getting good clone systems
(shameless plug here--like my company, Rastech, builds) to work with Linux. I've
had far greater problems with NT and SCO recently.

IMHO, support is the primary issue in getting everything running and keeping it
running smoothly. TCO, while often exagerated, does reflect the reality that
support costs often exceed hardware costs over the life of the equipment.
