I believe there's some software at:

ftp://ftp.itojun.org/pub/misc/crosspad-19991202.tar.gz

This appears to be for FreeBSD. And I suspect it only does
the downloading, not the handwriting recognition.

Note that I haven't used it as yet (and probably won't until
I buy a CrossPad).
