You need to be loading couple of modules that it's looking for...I think they :
are:
ppp_deflate
bsd_comp
Try:
# insmod ppp_deflate
# insmod bsd_comp
And then try a:
# lsmod
to make sure they're loading....If this works, load these at boot time...

Could somebody please explain what ppp-compress-2x module means?
