OK.. now that we've got pop working on 199.232.38.4 (a linux box known as
monica.threeofus.com and aliased as pop3.threeofus.com) it seems the
following scenario pertains:

all mail for *.threeofus.com is being spooled on the machine that handles
DNS for .threeofus.com... that's 199.232.38.2, aka joshua.threeofus.com
and aliased as mail.threeofus.com and pop.threeofus.com...

the problem is that mail for [EMAIL PROTECTED] is bouncing UNLESS
that username exists in the accounts list on the mail server on the mac
(199.232.38.2)... i have a bunch of users who only read their mail using
pine on the linux box, 199.232.38.4...

basically, here's what i'd like to set up:

dns for threeofus.com should be served by macDNS on the mac at
199.232.38.2

I want smtp for client users (non-*nix clients) to use mail.threeofus.com,
aka 199.232.38.2 (Eudora Internet Mail Server)... there's no way to turn
off pop service with EIMS, so even though pop service will be ON on
199.232.38.2 (the mac, aka, pop..threeofus.com), I want ALL pop
activity/incoming mail for [EMAIL PROTECTED] to be spooled on the
linux box, 199.232.38.4 aka pop3.threeofus.com so that:

a) nothing bounces
b) both pine users and remote client users can get their mail for their
account @threeofus.com

PLEASE HELP ME UNTANGLE/CONFIGURE THIS MESS!

Thanks! ;-)

J.
