Read the INSTALL file. It says to do "./configure; make; make install".
My experience has been that _most_ linux src I download comes with
sufficient instructions on compiling/installing the program. That's not
to say that I've never come across poorly documented programs (such as spf
~ aarrg!). A good tip would be to read the README and INSTALL files and
if there aren't any try a quick web search on the program - that usually
helps me out.
