Everybody at my current (but soon to be old) company is a "senior
consultant/analyst". They're all very experienced and knowledgeable, so
there's no question the title is applicable. However, we have no "regular
consultant/analysts", nor do we have any "junior consultant/analysts". I've
always thought "senior" implied a position relative to someone else. How can
you make a relative comparison when there is nothing to compare to?
When I tried to explain this to management, they thought I was joking. ;)
