   I've run both in Debian systems with no problems.  You can, of course,
get into problems with kdm and xdm (they'd conflict), and if with the
various windowmanagers each prefers depending on how you call those tasks
(.xsession, etc.).

   But to throw both sets of libraries onto a system and run whatever window
manager/desktop you want and then to run various KDE and GNOME programs, you
shouldn't have any problems.
