Hello,

I have a quick question for the list. I would like to setup
an IRC daemon on my firewall machine. I went to freshmeat.net and
did a search on ircd. Strangely enough there are about fifty daemons
out there... I downloaded "the" ircd and started looking at the
documentation.

I've never used IRC, most of my "conversations" have
been with just one other person so either they or I log in to a system
and use talk. It's getting to the point where there may be several of
us chatting back and forth at the same time so IRC seems like the way
to go.

So my question is, does anyone know of reviews on IRC daemons
or tried various daemons and found one they liked?

The daemon doesn't have to be feature packed. I am looking
for one that is reliable, easy to setup/configure and maintain. If
there is a better solution than IRC for what I am trying to do, that
is an option as well.

        Opinions? TIA.
