IBM had DOS for it's 360 series computers starting in mid-60s. (The 360 was 
introduced in 1965. it's primary OS was OS. There we 4 IBM operating 
systems for the 360 series. DOS for the smaller ones, OS/MFT, OS/MVT and 
finally VM. VM was only available on one high end model and was the first 
IBM virtual memory OS. IBM was one of the last vendors to offer virtual 
memory on their mainframes. DOS became DOS-VS, OS/MFT became OS/VS1 and 
OS/MVT became OS/VS2 which morphed to MVS. VM became VM-370.
