I've found 5.2 beta to be significantly slower than 5.1. Though they've
upgraded the filters somewhat, they still seem to mangle a significant amount
of Word docs (relatively simple ones at that).

For those who are just plain cheap, and have the patience/willingness to
ignore the cosmetics/aestheticss of the format mangling in SO, it's a great
choice. For those who insist on importing a doc correctly, I recommend
Applixware 5.0. It's been vastly improved since 4.4.2, works with all the gtk
libraries, and the filters work much better than even in their 5.0 beta
release.
