I tried to turn the socket off in the past, but I couldn't figure out a way
to do it without also messing up X itself. Does anyone know how to turn it
off without messing up X? It seems that x starts and, as part of its
programming, grabs the port and starts listening by default. There is
supposed to be a way to tell x not to listen on that port, but my tries have
been unsuccessful up to this point.

Thanx in advance.
