I would hope not, unless the law is overset as part of the
same case sequence (such as an appeal).  That's the inverse
of the traditional ex post facto application, which is explicitly
disallowed.  Legal findings are time-bound.

On the other hand, juries in criminal cases have an incredibly-
underknown power to overturn the law, rather than just finding
guilty or non.  The justice system tends to keep juries in the
dark about this power.

'The law may confound reason, but reason may not overset the law.'
A wacky sentiment to be sure. :-)
