True, but IMHO where it really shines in the desktop, particularly, in
the variety of software it has packaged for it. Debian's
soon-to-be-released "potato" version has almost 5000 packages available for
it. You name it, it's there.
Sure, you'll find daemons and admin utils of every conceivable type, but
what I like is the hundreds of games, the 3 or 4 "report my stocks on the
desktop" utils, the huge variety of editors and other commonly used tools.
When I install something new, 9 times out of 10 I find it's already packaged
for Debian; and for those few times it isn't packaged, all of the program's
dependencies typically are already in Debian. </PLUG> :-)
