I've deleted the email, but I believe Derek said a Java applet could steal
your P-III CPU ID (with a "BAH" thrown in somewhere for good measure).
If Java applet (or any language the browser supports) has a "sandbox"
that bad that the applet could perform that level of system call, or
run a command, e.g. /usr/bin/hostid, the language should be immediately
disabled until the sandbox is corrected.
IMHO, sandboxes should be extremely restrictive.
