Right, which is why I think they're a good place to *start*.

By looking at what the automated tool had set up I was able to,
reasonably quickly, learn for myself how to use ipchains.

My firewall's rules now diverge from what the tool gave me, due
to issues with MonopolyOne's DNS servers, their lack of filtering
of packets with bogus SA's, etc.  I've also enabled some port
forwarding so I can play with dialpad.com.

The README's, HOW-TO's etc. are all good resources too.  I've often
found though that with things as complex and flexible as ipchains,
I have better luck starting with a working or mostly working
example and moving on from that.

Same for things like .Xdefaults files. :-)
