Of course, I've been suggesting turning off Java in your browser for
performance reasons (and Netscape crashes with it on, IMHO).  For
security reasons, turn off Javascript - it's only slightly less
vulnerable than VBScript.

Java has some nice things going for it - it's a lot harder to shoot
yourself in the foot with it compared to C & C++.  With gcj & libgcj
coming along, you'll be able to natively compile on Linux (for free -
I believe IBM's Visual Age for Java does native compile).
