Hello list,

As many are aware, we ("we" being rather loosely defined, as usual) are
trying to put together a GNHLUG booth at Hosstraders, the big hamfest in
Rochester, NH this weekend.

maddog bought the exhibit space, but could not be present, due to prior
commitments. Rob Anderson, Jeff Smith, and myself have volunteered to man the
booth. Unfortunately, prior commitments may keep all of us away until late
Friday or early Saturday morning.

If anyone else thinks they might like to have a go at evangelizing Linux to
a bunch of techies, especially on Friday, please feel free. The booth is in
the same spot it was last time. If you don't know where, or need other
information, please contact me via my cell phone at (978)423-4733.

If anyone has banners, posters, or other similar signage, I think we still
need it.

Jeff, Rob, anyone else who cares, I hope to get there late Friday
afternoon/early evening. I'll be bringing equipment (UPS, power cords,
lights, etc.), but you may get there before me. Hope the power stays on. :)

  ABOUT HOSSTRADERS

  Web site: http://www.qsl.net/k1rqg/

  Rochester Fairgrounds, Rochester, NH.

0900 Fri - Gates open. "Early Admission" fee, $10/person.
1500 Fri - "Normal Admission" fee takes effect, $5/person.
1100 Fri - Gates close for the night (approximate time)
0900 Sat - Gates reopen, "Normal Admission" fee still applies
1300 Sat - Many people start leaving
  1700 Sat - Ghost town

The $10 "Sellers Fee" has been taken care of by maddog, but you will need to
pay your own way in for general admission. Note that they are listing this as
per *person*, and not per vehicle as I mistakenly said at last nights LUG
meeting.

Hosstraders is a "hamfest". A hamfest is a gathering of hams. A "ham", in
this sense, is an amateur radio operator. You will find all manner of stuff
there. Although nominally a buy/sell/trade meet for ham equipment, you will
find computers, general electronics, outdoor gear, military surplus, and
novelties of all kinds. Great fun to be had by any kind of geek, and some
amazingly good deals on used hardware if you know what you're looking for.
(Example: I picked up a $1000 UPS for $165 last year.)

  DIRECTIONS

Take Route 16/Spaulding Turnpike to Exit 13 (Junction 202).
Head East towards town (on Washington Street).
Turn right immediately after the Irving gas station (Hoover Street).
Drive straight. Stop before you hit the Fairgrounds fence.
Follow the fence East until you reach an open gate.
