Think what you will about the whole "Teach yourself in X amount of time"
concept, and then set it aside with respect to this book.

I bought this book when it first came out and it ROCKS! It has all the
answers, despite being a little out dated. It's written by 2 of the Samba
development team, and I've had quite a bit of contact with one the authors,
Gerry Carter. He's a great guy, and really knows his stuff.

If you buy only 1 book on Samba, make this the one. If you buy 2, then get
the O'Reilly book too (all proceeds go to the Samba team, it is their official
documentation!). If you buy 3 books, then make sure to get the original Samba
book by John Blair, this book, though quite dated, and covers an old version,
still contains a tremendous amount of in-depth coverage of Windows networking
and explanation as to why it's so b0rken!
