Do you have any AIX CDs? and do you know which model this is? There's two
different series, those based on the Power architecture, and those based
on PowerPC. The earlier is usually refered to as the 'Classic' series.
If you have an AIX CD you can change the boot order to boot from CD, mount
the root fs and edit the passwd file. On the Classic series there's
usually a key that you change from Run to Service mode, the PowerPC models
have a firmware (actually like OpenBOOT) and you use either F1 or F5 to
involke it (F1 is graphics and F5 is text I think).
If it's a Classic box then you can also boot from SCSI tape if there's no
CD. PowerPC boxes didn't support this (though newer models might).
Hope this helps.....if you need more help let me know. I used to be an AIX
admin and somewhere I have all my IBM AIX system books.
