I bought a WD307AA (Western Digital 30.7GB EIDE ULTRA ATA/66 3.5LP INT
5400RPM 9.5MS CAVIAR) and I'm having problems getting it working in
linux. I know the hard drive works with my hardware because if I boot up
on a dos floppy I have no problem accessing it.
Heres part of my dmesg:
ide: Assuming 33MHz system bus speed for PIO modes; override with
idebus=xx
VP_IDE: IDE controller on PCI bus 00 dev 39
VP_IDE: chipset revision 6
VP_IDE: not 100% native mode: will probe irqs later
hda: WDC AC23200L, ATA DISK drive

hdc: HP CD-Writer+ 7200, ATAPI CDROM drive

hdb: 60074784 sectors (30758 MB) w/2048KiB Cache, CHS=3739/255/63
Partition check:
hda: hda1 hda2 < hda5 hda6 hda7 >
hdb:hdb: lost interrupt
hdb: lost interrupt
hdb: lost interrupt
hdb1
As you can see when it does the partition check for hdb (my new drive) it
prints out 'hdb: lost interrupt' 3 times (there is about a 10-15
second wait between each time it prints it out) and then it finally
prints 'hdb1' (yup thats the partition i was able to make with dos fdisk.
At this point it finishes booting up and if i try to fdisk it or anything
i get the same problem of it printing that error message a few times then
working.
Anyone have any idea how I might be able to fix this?
Thanks
