The name of what you are looking for is 'autoexpect' which should have been
intuitively obvious by:
> which expect
/usr/bin/expect
>ls -l /usr/bin/*expect*
-rwxr-xr-x 1 root root 7566 Mar 7 2000 /usr/bin/autoexpect
-rwxr-xr-x 1 root root 4112 Mar 7 2000 /usr/bin/expect
-rwxr-xr-x 1 root root 8572 Mar 7 2000 /usr/bin/expectk
-rwxr-xr-x 1 root root 501 Feb 3 2000 /usr/bin/ftp.expect
Of course, the same information is also probably available in the O'Reilly
Expect book and definitely from the expect web site in FAQ #19:
19.Can Expect automatically generate a script from watching a session?
FYI, the expect website is:
http://expect.nist.gov/
which is easily found in a freshmeat query :)
