I have a question regarding the set up of a soundblaster 16 sound card. To begin with, I have all the hardware correctly set according to the instruction manual (written for M$)...I have run the sndconfig program and have set the setting to the defaults according to same book. The sndconfig is accepting the defaults, but I am getting no sound. What's up with that? Has anyone else out there had the same problems and how did you fix it?
I have already tried different settings, and I am still not getting any sound.
The default settings according to the book are:
I/O 220
IRQ 5
Low DMA 1
High DMA 5
MPU 330
Does Linux read these settings differently than M$? If so, what are the differences?
I also have a card type setting that I am not sure sndconfig is taking into account...could that be the problem?
