I have been running user group meetings for the past 15 years, and I have learned that
the members generally do not provide a lot of good suggestions. I can't tell you how
many times we have tried to get our users to tell us what they want to hear. We get a
few good suggestions. I've also found that sometimes when we think we have a dog of a
speaker or topic we get standing room only, and then when we think we have a great
topic or speaker, we get noone. One night at the New Hampshire Internet, which was at
the Nashua Library, we had Jeff Taylor, founder of the Monster Board, and only 8
people showed up. It's not easy. One of the best ways is to get members involved in
the meetings. Especially in the Linux community, we can find many of our members who
do different things with Linux.
