i did the following to get her modem working...your mileage may vary.

i downloaded the lucent568 file off of linmodems.org...

then i unzipped it (unzip lucent568.zip)
then i ch'd to the dir (cd lucent568)
i su'd to root (su)
installed it - copied the mod's to someplace and loaded it. you man get
some warning about kernel version...just ignore it. (./ltinst)
i then opened rc.local and appended this to it : setserial /dev/ttyS14 uart
16550 (pico rc.local or vi rc.local for all you six fans :-) lol )
I then rebooted
i saw an error message about kernel versions but i ignored it. the driver
wants .12 and i have .14.
i symlinked /dev/ttyS14 to /dev/modem
thats all! fire up wvdial and it works fine!

pretty easy huh? i thought that i's have to do come code hacking....ug! :-)

Passwords are like underwear. You don't share them, you don't hang them on
your monitor, or under your keyboard, you don't email them, or put them on
a web site, and you must change them very often. --Seen in sig.
