So has anyone else running VMware on Linux, with Win98 running in the VM
noticed this one?? I've observed the following a couple of times now --
I'm running xosview, VMware is up and running Win98, I've dialed up my
ISP to do email, etc, and I notice NET activity in xosview at about the
max rate that my poor little modem can churn. If I suspend the VM, NET
activity stops, on restarting the VM, it resumes. And if I kill the
dialup link, there is also no activity. (I have a small home network,
and there is a native Win98 machine or two on it as well as three Linux
machines; I initially thought maybe some sort of SMB junk might be
happening, but since it stops if the dialup is off, I'm assuming that's
not it).
Neat, huh? Ideas?? Should I suspect some sinister M$ plot to dump info
about my machine to ??? Or is there a simpler (and reasonable
explanation)?
