For strict home/personal use, doing manual backups of selected data files, I
will agree with that statement.
However, for even the smallest of business networks, the media size is far
too small to be considered for serious use. You need sixteen (!) CDs to
match even one 10 GB Travan-5 tape, and those are some of the smallest tapes
around. (Unless you use a CD-RW auto-changer, but then you're back to getting
expensive hardware installed.)

FYI, SCSI Travan-5 drives are not that expensive (less then $300 IIRC).
But the high-capacity SCSI tape drives can run into the thousands of dollars,
which is usually the big turn-off for small operations. :(
