For large environments where you have a limited window for backups and a 
significant amount of data to backup, though, that capital cost is far 
outweighed by the speed and capacity of those drives.  Spending $3000 on 
DLT drive and $1800 on tapes (30 tapes @ $60 each) is well worth it if for 
some reason I need to restore several hundred GB of data because of a system 
crash, etc.
