I seemed to recall that one could "multinet" an interface, eg:
ifconfig eth0 1.2.3.4
ifconfig eth0:1 2.3.4.5
When I try this, though, I'm informed,
SIOCSIFADDR: No such device
SIOCSIFFLAGS: No such device
Which would make sense if "ifconfig eth0:1" didn't return:
eth0:1 Link encap:Ethernet HWaddr 00:02:B3:10:A3:ED
UP BROADCAST RUNNING MTU:1500 Metric:1
Interrupt:11
What am I missing?
