I suspect there is another drive in there which he didn't notice. For
example, I had one system with a drive bay atop the power supply.
I would sure look hard for it before blowing away the MBR.
I suppose the replacement HDD could have had Linux installed without
his knowledge. Or maybe it was not the drive he thought it was.
