Upbeat is not the word I'd use to descibe Balmer.
Smarmy, hinky, creepy, evil-incarnate, slimy, sneaky, untrustworthy,
snake-oil
salesman, conniving, plotting, etc., sure, but not upbeat.
IMO, Balmer is less trustworthy than Gates.
