I agree 100% with Kenny, here (Kens of the world, Unite!): Slackware is
KDE-friendly (I believe), uses .tgz exclusively (though I seem to recall
that a package manager "layer" was added, kinda, but there's no way it
could really be enfored with .tgz), has bootable floppy as well as CD-ROM
installation, etc.  And let's face it: Mr. Volkerding knows his business.
While Slackware is certainly no longer the largest distribution, it is
certainly the oldest, and (IMHO) the most enjoyable, though it's been some
time since I really got dirty with Slackware.  Mind you: I happen to think
that package managers are *good* things, but for sheer fun, Slackware's a
good way to go.
