What version of RedHat? It works with both for me on my laptop
running 6.2 and XF86 3.3.6, but my XF86Config file is NOT a stock
config.
Look in your input device section for options like these:
LeftAlt mapping
RightAlt mapping
AltGr mapping
ScrollLock mapping
RightCtl mapping
Typically, the default mapping is like this:
LeftAlt Meta
RightAlt Meta
ScrollLock Compose
RightCtl Control
Yours may be different. If you're running RH7 with XF4, they may be
set up totally differently, and I have no idea what the right options
are. Look at the manpage for XF86Config on your system if you're in
doubt.
