In addition to Derek's suggestion, check the global bindings for your window
manager. I have seen stock [ALT]+arrow combinations used to page around
virtual desktops, move the mouse cursor with the keyboard, or other, similar
things. These global bindings are intercepted by the window manager for
Netscape ever sees them. Either modify or remove any such bindings.

  Specifics:

If you are using KDE, everything's under the KDE control panel. Look there.

If you are using GNOME and Sawfish (FKA Sawmill), middle-click the root
window (desktop), choose Customize, then Bindings, and set the Context to
"Global". Find the bindings (M-Right, M-Left), then click "Edit" or "Delete"
as you deem appropriate.

If you are using GNOME but not using Sawfish, bring up the GNOME Control
Center, find the "Window Manager" option under "Desktop", and change your
window manager to Sawfish. ;-)
