Mmm. I mount as vfat, and it works fine. I do it this way so the long
filenames actually work correctly.

This is what mine says - not sure how helpful it'll be:

/dev/hda1 /winC vfat defaults,gid=1001,umask=002    0   0
/dev/hda5 /winD vfat defaults,gid=1001,umask=002    0   0
/dev/hda6 /winE vfat defaults,gid=1001,umask=002    0   0
