No, no, to boot, you want to look at lilo.conf, not fstab....
Sorry, couldn't resist. ;-)
The mount(8) man page is a bit confusing, and could definitely stand to be
reorganized and broken up into separate man pages. But since it isn't... the
DESCRIPTION section is a brief and incomplete tutorial. The OPTIONS section
covers flags given to mount(8) itself, but the subsection on the "-o" flag
includes the generic, always-work options. The FILESYSTEM SPECIFIC MOUNT
OPTIONS is the really useful part for determining what options to pass to
which filesystem. Look for "mount options for fat", which also covers msdos,
vfat, and the like.
The manual page for fstab does explain the file well enough, but leaves the
filesystem options up to the mount(8) manual page.

I built my config files from scratch just being reading autofs(5) and
auto.master(5). If you have a specific question, I can give a specific
answer... :-)
