Oh, they make solid hardware. Damn solid! You could drop one of their
servers out a ten story window, and the only thing in danger of being damaged
would be the pavement.
It is just they are incompatible with everything that doesn't have "Compaq"
printed on it. They're notorious for gratuitous changes. On your average
Compaq PC, everything from the motherboard to the screws holding the cover on
will not fit anything else made in the history of mankind.
I know of one company that bought a Compaq Presario PC for one of their
developers. They kept having trouble getting their C compiler to work on it.
They called Compaq, and were told flat out that they would not be helped,
because a C compiler is a "business application", and the Presario is not
rated for "business use".
That is not the kind of b*llsh*t I want to deal with when my server is down
at three in the morning.
Not to mention that wonderful "System Partition". Let's put the firmware on
disk! What a great idea! Except when your system partition is on the RAID
array, and you need the system partition to find out why the RAID array won't
start....

We do everything from low-budget, single-processor Celeron systems to
eight-processor Xeon systems. I can guarantee you our prices will be lower
than Compaq. Give us a call.
