Yep, we need to help newbies on this list (note:  I often send new folks 
to the list when I can't answer questions - because all I would do then is 
ask on the list, and why have someone in the middle).

I don't think we've been too elitist on this list, although it does 
happen.   We might want a web pointer to sites such as 
www.linuxnewbies.org.
