Is it an ATA-66 or -100 device? I believe those run under a pseudo-scsi
driver extension in the BIOS, so you may be on to something. My Highpoint
HPT 366 UDMA-66 controller is listed under "SCSI controllers" in Windows
Properties box.
Also, have you checked the drive manufacturer's site regarding Linux
support? I see lots of Linux driver and support pages on manufacturers'
sites these days!
