I use a fairly diverse smattering of programs. For packet filtering, I
use IPChains and ipmasqadm. For host-based IDS, I use hostsentry,
logcheck, and saint. For network-based IDS I use snort and firestorm.
I also run regular scans of all my systems using Nessus, nmap,
vittscan, satan, and sara.
