xinetd uses a radically different approach to configuration than inetd, so
strictly speaking, that would not work. However, some sort of option in the
xinetd configuration syntax to read options from a legacy inetd.conf would
have been a good move, IMO. But I didn't write it. It does, IIRC, include a
Perl script that will convert an older inetd.conf file to a set of xinetd
config files.
