Actually, it makes perfect sense from the perspective of the Linux
community. No one single entity writes all of the code. If you're very
good at one thing, you may take it upon yourself to write code for that
one thing. NASA (or some of its employees anyway) has written pieces of
the Linux networking code. IBM has contributed code to Linux. Hell, even
Sun has made intellectual contributions to the community. The NSA is
particularly well-suited to security, so they wrote some code to make
Linux more secure. This is the way it should work. This is a sign that
the open source paradigm is taking hold the way we all hoped it would.
I hope this trend continues.
