As with everything else to come out of AOL, this is wrong. Basically,
everything that he said is incorrect. As I said, I have AOL running on
Linux using Codeweavers wine pre-release 3. So there goes that
sentence. However, I must admit that your contact needs to learn
double-talk better: " Even using WINE, AOL will not run on a Linux
platform. However, using WINE you can run our Windows client
on Linux". Which is it? Does it work under WINE, or doesn't it? The
AOL client made for Linux can be found @
http://www.techpages.com/linux.htm . There goes that sentence. At the
current moment, I am signed on to GAIM, and it works fine. So, it
appears that their blocking scheme is as effective as their
misinformation. I have documented everything that I have said with
links and information. If you would like to verify it, come on over! I
just wish people at AOL would check out their garbage before releasing
it! Oh, and please forward this on to them. I wouldn't want this
person to think that I am calling them a liar. But, it's either that
or they just have absolutely no idea what they are talking about. They
should stick to re-writing the HTTP specs and stay out of the PR game
;-) (for those who don't remember the AOL HTTP 1.1 incident
http://httpd.apache.org/info/aol-http.html)
