Security of one sort or other seems to be a subject for a thread.
In the past, its been emphaticly stressed 'Don't run as root !'
and limit the number processes running.
As a home user running 'X' (ximian) to a dial-up ISP (intermittantly)
what do I really need to be running ?

I took out the X,xdm, gnome stuff,lpd
I recently and inadvertantly started a flamewar when I asked for help
configuring sendmail on my home machine. It would have been interesting
if there could have been a comparison of the different mailers.
I have been able to get sendmail running on my home machine and if any one
wants my configuration (edited) let me know. It does have 1 bug I wind up
sending a copy to myself. ( I've been known to talk to myself, so what's the beef ;> )
WHY SENDMAIL ? It's like climbing mountains- because it's there.
All of us who are Linux user have to be somewhat masochistic. Let's
keep the sadism limited.
Anyone with thoughts about my ps listing please reply. I'm using SuSE 6.3 and
ximian gnome.
