My system at home is a single-user desktop machine, running X11 and GNOME,
with transient PPP dialup. I load a default-deny IPCHAINS firewall at
startup, and it is present at all times. It just doesn't do much when PPP
down. :) Simple, relatively easy to setup, and works well.
I can post the firewall script, it anyone is interested. It will also be
part of my presentation at Nashua next month.
